SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee baseball team took down the Majors of Millsaps College on Senior Day in a doubleheader sweep, winning in walk-off fashion, 6-5, before taking the nightcap, 12-5, Saturday afternoon at Montgomery Field.

CLASS OF 2019
-In between games on Saturday, seniors Trey Akins, Bryce Benedict, Riley Brandvold, Joey Calcagno, Wesley Christian, Lucas DeSantis, Danny McDonnell, Andrew Naspinski and Josh Roberts were recognized for their dedication and service to the program.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom half of the opening inning. Riley Brandvold led off the Sewanee offense with a solo shot.
-The Tigers tacked on a third run in the bottom of the second inning thanks to an RBI groundout by Bryce Benedict.
-The Majors tacked on a run in the fourth before adding a run in the seventh to make it a 5-3 lead.
-In the ninth, the Majors evened the score. Mason Little made it a 5-4 game with an RBI base hit.
-Four batters later, with the bases loaded, Avery Brock brought Jimmy Fondren home for a fielder's choice to tie the game at five runs.
-In the bottom half of the frame, a costly Millsaps error would haunt them, as Trey Akins led off the inning by reaching on the error.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-Millsaps struck first in the top half of the opening inning of the nightcap with a sacrifice fly.
-The Tigers responded in the bottom half with two runs to take the lead, which they would not relinquish back to the opposition. Jack Galanek brought home Trey Akins on an RBI base knock. Two batters later, Jake Woolard brought Galanek home as he reached base on an error.
-Sewanee put the contest away in the second inning thanks to a seven-run frame. Sewanee had six straight batters reach base after a groundout to start the inning.
-Leading 9-2 n the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers added a run in the fourth before putting a crooked number of two runs in the sixth.
200 HIT CLUB
-In the bottom of the fourth of game one, Trey Akins laced a double for his 200th career hit with the Sewanee baseball program.
-He finished the day 5-for-10 at the plate with an RBI and five runs scored. The Birmingham, Ala. native now has 203 career hits in 148 career games with Sewanee.
SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS
-With the doubleheader sweep, the Tigers surpassed their previous win total with their 19th and 20th wins on Saturday. The team moved past the 19-win total the team had in a season, happening twice in 2003 and 2017.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Riley Brandvold recorded back-to-back two-hit performances, as he drove in three runs and scored twice with a homer.
-Chris McNulty also had two hits in both games for Sewanee.
-On the day, the Tigers recorded 28 base hits, 10 of those extra base hits.
MILLSAPS KEY STATISTICS
-Jimmy Johnstone finished the day with five hits, including three in game one, at the leadoff position.
-Hayden Williams (0-6) allowed the game-winning run in the ninth on an unearned run and suffered the game one loss.
-Barret Kaul (1-4) was unable to get out of the second inning for the Majors, allowing four earned runs in 1.1 innings.
The Purple and Gold will look for the series sweep Sunday at noon, weather permitting.
