SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's soccer team used an 88th minute goal by Tashinga Vhumisai to give the Tigers to a 1-0 victory on the opening night of the Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational, Friday evening from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee controlled possession for most of the match, as the team out-shot the visitors, 14-5, including 7-1 in the first half.
-The Tigers had two key opportunities to score the first goal of the match, but they were stopped by the Royals' keeper.
-In the 88th minute, after the Tigers intercepted the throw-in by the visitors, Tashinga Vhumisai scored the eventual game-winner to give Sewanee the victory with a little over two minutes remaining in regulation.

-Brendan Mann led the Tigers with three shots overall, one on goal.
-Tashinga Vhumisai scored the lone goal of the match.
-James Murray (2-1) saved two shots in full time.
EASTERN MENNONITE KEY STATISTICS

The final day of the Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational occurs Saturday afternoon with rival Covenant. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
