No. 18 Sewanee falls to No. 1 Emory

SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 8, 2017) – Despite fighting hard, the No. 18 ranked Sewanee men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 match against No. 1 ranked and regional-rival Emory, Tuesday.

The visiting Eagles swept all three doubles matches. After Aman Manji and Jonathan Jamison defeated Aubrey Davis and Avery Schober at No. 3, Sewanee was finally outlasted at No. 1. Despite a battle for each point, No. 18 ranked Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding finally topped Jack Gray and Alejandro Becker, 8-6.

At No. 2, the score was even closer. Andres Carro and Jordan Brewer was finally defeated in a tiebreaker when Emory's Max Renke and Adrien Bouchet won 9-8 (2).

In singles, Emory swept all six matches in straight sets. No. 1 ranked Manji defeated No. 24 ranked Schober at No. 1, 6-2, 6-4. Carro lost to No. 10 ranked Jamison at No. 2, 6-1, 6-4 while Gray fell against Bouchet at No. 3, 6-2, 6-2.

After Davis Owen lost at No. 4, Brewer fell to Alec Josepher at No. 5, 6-4, 6-2. Finally, Josh Goodman defeated Scott Gallimore at No. 6, 6-4, 6-4.

Sewanee returns to action with a 9:00 a.m. match against Hendrix, Friday.
