MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Sewanee softball team was defeated in the second day of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, falling to Southern Vermont, 12-4, and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 14-2, Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED - SOUTHERN VERMONT
-Against the Mountaineers, the Tigers recorded an RBI single by Taylor Wagner in the bottom half of the first inning.

-In the fourth inning, Southern Vermont drove in four runs, capped by a bases clearing triple to lead 4-1.

-In the bottom half of the frame, the Purple and Gold chipped away with two runs. Miranda Townsend posted an RBI double, and Emily Taylor, pinch hitting, posted an RBI groundout.

-In the fifth, Sewanee tied the contest at four runs apiece with a sacrifice fly.

-However, the Mountaineers reclaimed the lead for good with an eight-run sixth inning to secure the win in run-rule fashion, 12-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED - ST. LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY
-The Eutectics scored early and often in Sewanee's second game and SLCOP's third game of the day. The Eutectics scored in each inning and led 9-0 after two full innings.

-Sewanee's Peri Prestwood recorded an RBI single in the second to avoid the shutout, and Kendell Goodrum posted a base knock that brought home Rachel Hoffman.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Taylor Wagner recorded a 3-for-4 day at the plate in the opener against Southern Vermont.

-Kendell Goodrum recorded three hits on the day, including two against the Eutectics in the nightcap.

SOUTHERN VERMONT KEY STATISTICS
-Michaela Kelly and Brandi Johnson recorded three hits each to lead Southern Vermont. Kelly also drove in three RBI and laced a triple.

-Julia Whipple (2-2) tossed two innings in relief, allowing one unearned run on four hits.

ST. LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY KEY STATISTICS
-Lauren Wright, Sydney Vetter and Bear Wood each recorded three hits for the Eutectics.

-Wood (1-0) allowed two runs on six hits in the circle.

UP NEXT
After a day off on Wednesday, Sewanee will next play Maine-Presque Isle in a doubleheader on Thursday.
