SEWANEE, Tenn. - The opening game of the three-game series between 12th-ranked Birmingham-Southern and Sewanee was called in the bottom of the third inning due to poor weather conditions. The contest was suspended because of deteriorating conditions on the field.
The Tigers were batting when the contest was halted, with Charlsey Shirey at the plate with a 2-0 count and the visitors leading 16-3.
The teams will look to resume play Saturday at 2 p.m. As of Friday afternoon, the first game will be completed, and then the second game of the scheduled doubleheader will be played as scheduled. The third game of the series may be affected due to Easter plus the end of the regular season regulations set by the Southern Athletic Association.
Prior to the restart, the Tigers will honor its five seniors for Senior Day.
