Women’s Soccer Bows Out of SAA Tournament

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Sewanee women's soccer team was eliminated from the 2019 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Soccer Tournament, hosted by Centre College. The Tigers were defeated by the Lynx of Rhodes College, 3-0, Friday night from Amend Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Liz Vega scored twice for the Lynx in about a 1:39 span to take a 2-0 lead at the intermission.

-Sarah DiLuzio scored the third goal of the contest off an Alli Cundiff pass in the 53rd minute to secure the match for the Lynx.

-Rhodes will play in the championship match against SAA Regular Season Champion in Centre on Sunday, who defeated Berry, 6-0, in its semifinal match earlier in the day.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Four players all attributed shots in the match: Sam Stocker, Vivian Hodges, Chloe Thompson and Mimi Davis.

-Sam Bourgeois (1-2-0) stopped nine shots in full time for Sewanee.

RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Alli Cundiff, Katelyn Curtis and Liz Vega each posted four shots for the Lynx in the match. Vega scored twice, while Cundiff added a goal of her own.

-Abby Roevens (13-5) earned the clean sheet with three saves.
